THE GIFT OF TIME AND TALENT
If you’re interested in becoming a member of our Board, please let us know, particularly if you have a specialized skill set or ability. We’re always looking for new ideas! THE GIFT OF FINANCIAL SUPPORT
SUPPORTING A FOUNDATION OF EXCELLENCE
Some have characterized chamber music as highly democratic. Not reliant on a conductor, chamber music depends on the collaborative efforts of a small group of musicians – virtuosos in their own right – who are able to work closely and respectfully together. Calgary Pro Musica Society wishes to reflect this ideal: through the vital financial support of our donors, we strive to establish a benchmark in chamber music by bringing the best ensembles to Calgary – and for extremely affordable ticket prices. Young musicians can learn from the best while audiences have an opportunity to appreciate real excellence. Without the financial generousity of our subscribers, corporate and individual sponsors, the Calgary Region Arts Foundation and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts we simply could not offer our concert tickets for so little cost.
BUILDING ON A FOUNDATION OF EXCELLENCE
Leave a Legacy
But in addition to ongoing support, the Calgary Pro Musica Society wishes to create a legacy to ensure the preservation and enhancement of chamber music in Calgary. Because there are many fine young musicians attending University of Calgary and Mount Royal College, we have selected scholarships as the most direct and influential way of supporting chamber music in our city.
To leave a legacy of lasting strength, Calgary Pro Musica Society has established an endowment with the Calgary Foundation. Our ultimate goal is to become Calgary’s pre-eminent source of post-secondary music scholarships. Gifts of $50k provide the necessary funding to underwrite and sustain the scholarships. For every gift of this size, the Society will be able to establish and award a $1k scholarship in a name determined by the donor. Awarded annually, scholarship recipients will be selected based on predetermined criteria established by the Board of the Pro Musica Society in conjunction with the heads of the music departments of University of Calgary and Mount Royal College.
The Artistic Director
In addition to the scholarship legacy, the endowment will also to be used to support the position of artistic director.
MAKING A FINANCIAL GIFT
As a registered, non-profit society, Calgary Pro Musica issues tax receipts for all donations, and for which we are deeply grateful. We offer our patrons a variety of ways to make a gift. Those who are able to make a donation of $50k or more may wish to support our newest initiative Leave a Legacy. Please call us at (403) 244-8227 about our donations program.
Annual Gifts
Annual gifts are vital to our Society since yearly ticket sales, which we strive to keep low and stable, historically cover only one third of our annual operating expenses. Annual gifts are acknowledged in the concert programme.
Gifts in Honor
Sponsoring a specific Pro Musica event is a vital and valuable way of supporting the Society. Sponsorships, which are offered in pre-determined amounts, are always recognized at the event and in the annual concert calendar.
Gifts in Memory
The Society gratefully accepts gifts in memory of a loved one. In Memoriam gifts are acknowledged in the concert programme.
Planned Gifts
If a donor wishes, planned gifts are an excellent way of supporting the Society. They may be arranged as insurance proceeds, as a named beneficiary in a will, or through regular contributions to a foundation or endowment. Consult your financial advisor or accountant to learn of the most tax efficient ways to do this.
Donations in Kind
Donations of publicly traded securities are an easy and tax efficient way to help. Donations of this nature are typically the most tax efficient method for those individuals with unrealized capital gains on long held securities. We accept all sizes of donations and greater amounts are eligible for our Leave a Legacy program if you so choose. |
